60 young people from Holy Spirit (Kent), Holy Family (Auburn) and St. Stephen the Martyr (Renton) gathered for a week of service and retreat. They learned about Catholic Social Teaching and had opportunities to serve their parishes and the larger community throughout the week. Here at Holy Spirit our team cleaned and freshened all the classrooms in the Parish Activity Center for the upcoming year of Faith Formation. It was a great week of fellowship, learning and community building!
More photos here show the young people putting what they learned to work! Catholic Social Teaching in ACTION! Along with prayer and cleaning projects in the three parishes, they also learned and/or served at:
DAWN (Domestie Abuse Women’s Network)
PICC (Pediatric Interim Care Center)
City of Kent Human Services
KYFS (Kent Youth and Family Services)
Auburn Food Bank
City of Kent Police Dept.
Norm Maleng Regional Justice Center
Here is what some of our students had to say about their week:
I met new people, made friends and learned to help those around me. Crystal
I saw Christ in the people working in the food bank. Grace
I gained new knowledge and grew in my faith. Allan
This experience was good, but tiring. James
